Diversity takes Center Stage at the Producers Guild Awards

Over the past four years, I’ve covered the Producers Guild Awards and this year’s experience marks a new beginning.  Minority groups across the spectrum were represented in the projects being recognized, and there was a true sense of unity in the room. For the first time, I felt like we’ve turned the corner and are finally headed in a new direction — diversity is being celebrated.

I spoke to Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Kenya Barris (Creator of “Blackish”), Alfonso Cuarón (Roma), Kevin Feige (Chairman of Marvel, “Black Panther”) and many more who shared their common sense of fortitude to continue this effort and create lasting change.

As a mixed woman of color (Filipino, Spanish, Mexican, Italian), I am incredibly proud to be celebrating an awards season when all of my ethnicities are represented on both sides of the camera!  Shout out to Charles, our videographer who is the best team to capture all of the official red carpet coverage for the PGAs, produced by our Getty Entertainment Crew!
